A Practical Guide To Buying Pocket knife

If you are planning to buy a pocketknife for the first time, here are some practical guidelines to help you out. But before starting to see those points, be clear about your state’s law regarding possession and carrying of knives. It is classified as a weapon, hence there are some restrictions in place about buying them. Once you are clear about the law, and of age to buy them, then let’s see what factors to consider while buying them.
No. of Blades
The first thing you should consider is how many blades you want in your pocketknife. It can be a single blade knife like a thin blue line knife (where the blue line is a tribute to our law enforcers who put their lives in danger to keep us safe) or a multiple-blade knife. Then there is the swiss knife which not only had a knife but also other handy tools in them.

Edge of the knife
The next point to consider is the knife edge. It can be plain, fully serrated, or partially serrated. The plain edge knives have better control, are more accurate, and give cleaner cuts. They are easier to sharpen as well. The only drawback is that they are poor when it comes to pulling cut or sawing.
The serrated knives are better in these two scenarios and also better when it comes to cutting tougher materials. The drawback is that they don’t have clean cuts.
The third type hence is versatile as it gives you the best of the two types. And it also has the disadvantages of the two types. So, you need to use portions of the knife while doing specific jobs.

Blade length.
The next thing to consider when buying your thin red line knife (the red line dedicated to first respondents and firefighters) is the blade length. Anything below 2.75” can be easily carried in the pocket but not suitable for heavy-duty work. Those between 2.75” to 4” are best because they are easy to carry and very handy. Anything above 4” will be bulky and hard to carry in a pocket, but good for situations where you need to protect yourself.
